hand dyed t-shirt rugs

hand dyed t-shirt yarn
I dyed t-shirts to make this yarn and have been using it to crochet rugs. It is the perfect rug yarn!
Hand dyed rag rug
Thick enough that the rug has substance, but still pliable and easy to work with. This particular batch (and the resulting rug) was chartreuse, navy blue and a dark pink/salmon color. I also used a grey t-shirt in the middle to break things up a bit. The rug pictured above measures 20" across and would be perfect next to a bed or in front of a dresser.

Um, I've been saving old t-shirts for this very project and now that you've reminded me how beautiful they turn out, I need to fit it in somewhere this week. p.s. Do you use a huge hook or your fingers?
Can you tell I haven't really done my homework on this yet? ;)

I love the color coordination. I've been making t-shirt yarn but nothing has come out of them yet. They do not coordinate... Anyways, nice work!

this so pretty. growing up we had a rug like this in every room. i remember they covered almost the whole floor. now that I look back my mom probably wanted to hide the shag carpet in our trailer! my brother's was green, & it was our "field" for our tractors. my mom even made me one in my sorority colors for college. thanks for the memories. I probably need one in my new house!
