Have you look through all of the wonderful items that have been donated to Hearts for Haiti so far? There are so many pretty things listed and I hope that if any of you are planning on doing some etsy shopping you will look here first! 100% of the proceeds go to help the Doctors Without Borders efforts in Haiti in bi-monthly increments. As of last night the shop had raised more than $10,000!
Here are a few of my favorite items...
Rustic Copper Heart Ring...
Love Arrow Necklace...
Vintage Minimalist - Single Bare Bulb Pendant...
Morango and Chocolate Scarf...
I have donated ten of the granny square cowls shown above to the shop, and they should be listed and available within the next few days.
If you are interested in donating an item of your own, please see the shop profile or visit the blog.
Thank you so much!
I received some pretty awesome birthday gifts last week, and I thought I would share them with you! Josh gave the biggest bouquet of flowers ever, and this pretty Blythe doll, named Wanda. She is a Star Dancer who has had her hair dyed and her makeup done, and I am *so* excited about making clothes for her. I have never really thought of myself as a dolly girl, but I love this one!
His mom, Judy, gave me a gift certificate to the fancy yarn shop downtown. I chose this multicolored wool yarn (already made into a cowl, of course!),
some rainbow colored Noro yarn, a ball of red hemp/wool blend and a bamboo crochet hook. I'm not sure what I will use them for yet, but I am thinking the Noro might make pretty wristwarmers!
Jamie sent me one of her super rad yo-yo necklaces
and a matching bangle, as well as a big bag of vintage buttons. Thank you, Jamie!
Henry chose these pearls for me--the boy likes to hand out jewelery!
And, just because, I bought myself a bottle of my favorite conditioner. The budget has not allowed it lately, but it sure is a nice treat once in awhile (even if Josh says I smell like a hippie ;p).
Is this month seriously halfway over already? So many good things are happening right now. So far, I love 2010! I hope it's going well for you, too.

While thumbing through the latest issue of Interweave Crochet Magazine I stumbled across a familiar face! Gabriel's parents were friends with my parents when we were young, and he now lives in Portland, Oregon and is the Executive Chef at Le Pigeon. One of his coworkers, Jo Hamilton, makes these crocheted portraits, and they are gorgeous.
Seeing these really makes me want to experiment even more with crochet. The possibilities are endless!
I am halfway through adding all of the cowls and scarves that I have made over the past few weeks to the Katherine Handmade shop. After my little monkey goes to bed tonight I will list the rest of them. My new model, Dixie, has been so helpful--I love money well spent!
